Leaving a legacy to charities is fast becoming a very popular way of helping others when you've gone. By leaving a gift to The Gut Trust in your will, you will help make an important long-term contribution to our work. There are two kinds of legacy you can leave, and both are free of inheritance tax; so all you need to do is tell your solicitor, or will writer, that you would like to leave either a Residuary or Pecuniary Legacy to us. We're always extremely grateful to receive gifts from generous benefactors and so it's easy as possible to set-up we have provided a guide for each kind of legacy below.
Residuary Legacy
A Residuary Legacy is the best way to help us. This kind of legacy means you can leave The Gut Trust all, or part of, your estate once your family and friends have been provided for. A legacy like this is of great help to us as it helps us to plan and finance services that are needed by our members.
To leave a Residuary Legacy to The Gut Trust, all you need to do is add the following paragraph to your will.
"I give all the rest of my estate to The Gut Trust (Registered Charity Number: 1057563) to be used for its general charitable purposes and I declare that the receipt of their Treasurer or other proper official shall be a full and sufficient discharge."
Pecuniary Legacy
A Pecuniary legacy is a fixed sum of money. This kind of legacy is useful to The Gut Trust but if you make a will early, without updating, inflation can erode the value of your gift and may not reflect what you had intended to give at the time.
To leave a Pecuniary Legacy to The Gut Trust, simply add the following paragraph to your will; paying close attention to enter the sum you wish you give.
"I give free of tax to The Gut Trust (Registered Charity Number: 1057563), the sum of £ [Sum written in numerals] ([Sum written in words]) for its general charitable purposes and I declare that the receipt of their Treasurer or other proper official shall be a full and sufficient discharge."
